Boost Your Throughput by Cutting Run Times in Half

Feel like you’re racing against the clock and can’t keep up with incoming samples, especially those with maximum hold times? As regulations continue to increase both the sample frequency and breadth of analysis, like the Revised Lead and Copper Rule (LCRR), environmental laboratories are busier than ever.

Get Time Back on Your Side

When time is a factor, MANTECH offers a number of features to ensure you can meet your throughput demands. These features include Rapid Duo™ – the simultaneous analysis of multiple titrations (i.e., alkalinity, acidity, hardness, etc.) – or multiple probe configurations. By performing simultaneous actions on a single sample cup or analyzing multiple samples at once, your laboratory can achieve the productivity needed to meet throughput demands.

What is Rapid Duo™?

In short, Rapid Duo™ is the simultaneous actions of performing 2 or more titrations at once. Unlike sequential and parallel analysis, all steps including the pipetting of the aliquot, titrant addition, and measurement are all being performed at the same time. Utilizing an external analysis vessel (a.k.a. TitraSip™) for each application, MANTECH systems can perform multiple destructive analyses from a single sample cup. This not only saves you time but also saves on reagents, sample cups, bench space, and more.

Comparing Simultaneous and Sequential Analysis

Let’s take a look at performing conductivity, fluoride, pH and alkalinity with and without Rapid Duo™. Note: Both configurations only require one sample cup for the suite of analyses.

With Rapid Duo™

  1. Conductivity reading is taken in cup.
  2. An aliquot is pipetted to each of the two TitraSip™ vessels.
  3. Analysis commences for both fluoride and alkalinity.
  4. Rinsing procedures commence:
    1. Conductivity probes, tips, and stirrer returning to a dynamic flowing rinse station to be cleaned and
    2. Both TitraSip™ vessels are drained and rinsed.

Estimated Analysis Time per Sample = 3-5 minutes

WithOUT Rapid Duo™

  1. Conductivity reading is taken in cup.
  2. An aliquot is pipetted to TitraSip™ vessel.
  3. Analysis commences for alkalinity.
  4. TitraSip™ vessel is drained and rinsed.
  5. A second aliquot is pipetted to TitraSip™ vessel.
  6. Analysis commences for fluoride.
  7. Rinsing procedures commence:
    1. Conductivity probes, tips, and stirrer returning to a dynamic flowing rinse station to be cleaned and
    2. TitraSip™ vessel is drained and rinsed.

Estimated Analysis Time per Sample = 5-7 minutes

In effect, by adding a secondary TitraSip™ vessel to perform two applications simultaneously, you can save up to  minutes per sample. This time saving becomes crucial for laboratories operating with high throughput levels. For example, in a run with over 100 samples, you could be saving up to 6 hours of analysis time!

When Are Multiple Probe Configurations Beneficial?

Should your throughput consist of high volumes with single parameter or electrode-based analyses, such as pH and conductivity, multiple probe configurations may be the way to go! MANTECH’s offers single, dual, triple, and even quad probe configurations for our MT Series analyzers. This can reduce run times drastically (up to 75%!) by analyzing up to 4 samples simultaneously.

Note: Multiple probe configurations are also available for MANTECH’s BOD Pro analyzers.

On top of simultaneous analysis, MANTECH systems can be run unattended overnight. Essentially, you can maximize your work day and run samples around the clock without the added stress on your analysts. MANTECH’s autosamplers can hold up to 560 samples using 50mL tubes (note: alternative sample cups sizes are available). Simply set up your samples on the autosampler bed, prepare your run table in MANTECH Pro software, press ‘START’ and go home for the day! Once the run is complete, electrodes will be placed in storage solution overnight.
