Nitrite in Coolants

Method Abstract #13

Scope and Application

This application is used for determination of nitrite concentration in coolant samples. There are no known methods of conformity.

Method Summary

Nitrite concentration is determined by titration with ceric sulfate using a redox electrode. The sample is titrated until a strong endpoint is reached.

Parameter Specification
Measuring Range* 300 – 1500 ppm
RSD for 1000 ppm Standard 2.34% or +/- 23.42

*Data for this measuring range was obtained using laboratory prepared standards formulated from potassium chloride. The measuring range may be increased by using larger capacity analysis vessels and/or auto-dilution.
